In accordance with our founding principles, United Against Racism is calling on candidates to sign our Anti-racism Pledge for the forthcoming Dublin Bay South By-Election
OUR PLEDGE
KEEP RACISM OUT OF IRISH POLITICS
Across Europe and in the Americas extremist and opportunist politicians have been using racism to sow division and hatred and attempt to attract support. Until recently mainstream Irish political discourse has remained relatively free of this poison. There are now signs this may be changing and we call on all decent candidates to nip this in the bud.
United Against Racism is asking the candidates in the coming Dublin Bay South By-Election to sign the following pledge.
NO TO RACISM ELECTION PLEDGE
I, the undersigned candidate in Dublin Bay South By-Election pledge that in the coming election campaign I reject racism and all attempts to appeal to racist ideas and sentiments, especially used by the far-right in this country.
In particular, I reject any attempts to target the Traveller Community or migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, people of colour, or to scapegoat them in relation to issues such as housing, health and other social problems. Please email
(END)
We are planning to publish the responses before the elections.
