ANTI-RACISM PLEDGE FOR EUROPEAN and LOCAL ELECTIONS 2019
Calling on all political parties and politicians and candidates:
KEEP RACISM OUT OF IRISH POLITICS
Across Europe and in the Americas extremist and opportunist politicians have been using racism to sow division and hatred and attempt to attract support. Until recently mainstream Irish political discourse has remained relatively free of this poison. There are now signs this may be changing and we call on all decent political parties, politicians and candidates to nip this in the bud.
United Against Racism is asking all political parties and all candidates in the coming European and Local Elections to sign the following pledge.
NO TO RACISM ELECTION PLEDGE
We the undersigned political parties and candidates pledge that in the coming elections we reject racism and all attempts to appeal to racist ideas and sentiments.
In particular we reject any attempts to target the Traveller Community or migrants, refugees and asylum seekers or to scapegoat them in relation to housing, health and other social problems.
Please email pledge@united-against-racism.net | Responses will be published before the elections.
